Legal department
Karen Roache – Legal Administrator
Karen has worked for the GMB for 21 years and has recently taken on the role of Legal Administrator. Karen is now responsible for the day to day running of the Legal Department including processing members’ personal injury, employment law and extended legal claims. This includes liaising with the Region’s Solicitors, activists and Officers.

David Shamma is a Regional Organiser based at our Peterborough Office. David has responsibility for membership in Peterborough, Lincolnshire, Leicestershire and Northamptonshire. In the private sector David covers industries such as Indesit, Christian Salvesons, McCains, IKEA, Wincanton, Asda, Rigid Containers and many others. In the public sector he has responsibility for membership in a number of local authorities including Peterborough City Council and Northamptonshire County Council. David is also the Young Members’ Officer for the region and is Principal Officer for Clothing & Textiles and Prisons
Jed Purkis - Regional Organiser - Leicester Office
Jed Purkis is a Regional Organiser based at our Leicester Office. Jed has responsibility for GMB members at Leicestershire County Council. In the private sector Jed serves GMB members at bmi at locations such as Manchester, Belfast, Edinburgh and Glasgow Airports and, of course, at the Company Headquarters at Donington. He also looks after members in manufacturing, packaging, construction, furniture and Asda and Wilkinson Stores. He is the Principal Officer for Asda Stores and Cast Stone & Concrete

Sian McClarence is an Organising Officer based at the Leicester Office. Sian has responsibility for Leicester City Council, Asda Distribution, and Next.
Colin Whyatt - Organising Officer - Leicester Office
Andy Fletcher - Organising Officer - Grantham Office

Martin Allen – Senior Organiser/Regional Organising Team Manager
Manages Central Team, which covers Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire, including Grantham and Lincoln Offices. Senior Organiser for the newly established Commercial Services section.
Tyehimba Nosakhere – Organiser – Nottingham Office
Main industries covered are Local Authorities, including Nottinghamshire County Council and a number of Boroughs, Southern Cross healthcare and Notts Ambulance Trust. Tyehimba is also the region’s Race Officer.
Pat Hardy - Organiser - Buxton Office
Responsible for Derby City and Derby County Council, British Midland Airways. Principal Officer for Quarrying / ARC.
Chris Needham - Organiser - Nottingham Office
Responsible for the Construction Furniture Timber and Allied Trades, Asda Stores, Severn Trent Water and Remploy. He is also Principal Officer for these industries. He also looks after Nottingham City Council and Imperial Tobacco.
Martin McGinley - Organiser - Nottingham Office
Responsible for National Health Service / East Midlands Ambulance Service.

Member of the Regional Organising Team which identifies, plans and then recruits and organises in regional and national project targets.

Finance department
David Castledine - Regional Finance Officer
David’s key responsibility is to ensure that both Income and Expenditure are dealt with in such a way that our Region Functions in a professional way and the Branches to which we all are apart receive support in order to fund initiatives to promote the GMB.
Lesley Waudby - Senior Finance Assistant
Lesley is responsible for the processing of all Invoices, Expense Claim Forms and of Cash Paying members within the Region.
Laura Dale - Finance Clerk
Laura is responsible for the Processing of our membership forms, on line joiners &, new to the GMB, Joining over the Phone.
Jaime Foster – Membership Services Administrator
Jaime has responsibility for your membership in updating your personal detail, the processing of National and Regional Benefits.
Health and Safety/Education Department
Craig Stuart – Regional Education/Health and Safety Officer

Craig began his trade union involvement as a Branch Secretary in the Civil Service union at the age of 20. He achieved a position within the Trade Union Studies Unit at South Nottingham College, teaching the TUC Education Programme as Programme Leader. Craig joined the GMB as Regional Education and Health and Safety Officer in May 2007, and provides education and training for representatives and members. He holds an IOSH qualification and also a Certificate in Education.
Carole Wojcik – Assistant
Employed with the union since 1988, originally as a Clerk and as a Secretary. Now co-ordinates the training courses. Also holds a professional health and safety qualification and can give advice and assistance to members on health and safety
