Local Government Pensions Scheme Talks Underway

LGPS TALKS UNDERWAY
Following central discussions about the future of public service pensions between trade unions and government the scheme specific negotiations have now commenced.
Following a first meeting today the local government trade unions and employers issued the following joint statement:
“As part of the ongoing discussions about the sustainable future of the Local Government Pension Scheme, representatives of local government employers and trade unions met today ( 27th July ). This initial exchange of views was constructive and both sides agreed that we value the scheme and its long term sustainability. It was agreed that this was the first of a series of meetings.”
We will be holding a further meeting on 11th August and I will keep you informed of developments.
