  1. LOCAL GOVERNMENT Pay agreement reached

    Consultation across the trade unions and the employers on NJC pay has concluded today with all parties reaching agreement on the 2014-16 two year pay proposals.  94% of GMB members voted to accept and other unions also had significant majorities in favour.

  3. Britain Needs a Pay Rise Demo

  4. LIVING WAGE SURVEY

    GMB is asking workers earning less than £10 an hour to tell us what life is like on these wages.

    Whilst research has been done by churches and charities to determine what a living wage might be, GMB believes that this still falls short of what it really costs to live in Britain today.

  5. FENNER DUNLOP MEMBERS STAY IN TOUCH

     

    It has been a challenging year for our members in the Fenner Dunlop factory in Hull.  There has been 10 months of short-time working and uncertainty, however the Company are now seeing the order book improve and our members going back on to full time work.

  6. SOPHIE’S SUCCESS

     

    Sophie Brennan is a Carer working for Peterborough Care in Peterborough.  In April 2013, Sophie spoke to her employer about returning to work after maternity leave.  Sophie wanted to change her working days and no longer wanted to work a Saturday due to her not being able to get childcare for her two young children.  Peterborough Care refused her a request for flexible working which left Sophie unable to return to work.   7. Veterans Weekend – East Park, Hull – 26 and 27 July 2014

    Record temperatures and record takings took place at this year’s Veterans Weekend in East Park, Hull on Sat and Sun 26/27 July 2014.

    £940 clear profit was put into the GMB Hull Branch Forum Social Committee’s accounts for the GMB Kids Christmas Party to take place in December of this year.
